Be My Valentine ~ Week 2 – 10 Creative Ways to say “I Love You” to Your Husband

Here we are in the second week, how did everyone do last week? It was fun coming up with ideas for this weeks challenge. Last week went well and I have to say my husband and I were MUCH closer because of it. As women we love to hear sweet words from our husbands.
I love it when my husband tells me just how much he cares for me, and how much he loves me. Well men at least my man loves to here these words come from my mouth as well.

When you touch your husband and meet his needs good things will happen, at least this is what I've heard. That's what I am doing I am giving him everything he needs during this challenge. I want to let him know how much I love him in every way.
We did have a small fight over the week since we have had a stressful week, and it was a silly thing to even fight over. Here's what I did, I stopped! I stopped and told him I'm sorry for getting so upset, I let him know he was worth more than what ever it was we found ourselves fighting over. He was shocked I was shocked!  I just kept telling myself WWJD, What does the Bible say about all of this? It was easy after I reminded myself these things. This made the rest of the week that much more pleasant for us and everyone in the house.
So this week I am working on 10 Creative Ways to Say I love you  to my husband.
Here is a list I came up with-
  1. Leave Red and Silver Hershey Kisses on his side of the bed with a love note on his pillow
  2. In lipstick write I love on the bathroom mirror in our bathroom
  3. Layout his pajama's light some candles in the bathroom and put up a sign for him to join you for a nice bubble bath
  4. Buy a bottle of Wine some cheese and turn in early to watch the movie that was out when you first got together. Our movie was the Body Guard!
  5. Write a list of the ten things you love about your husband and put it in his lunch box
  6. Tell him you love him 10 times in 1 day!
  7. Have a date night in your home
  8. Make dessert together and tell him you love him
  9. Make him breakfast in bed and serve him yourself (use your imagination)
  10. Come home with his favorite food and drink and spend the evening doing what ever it is he likes.
Okay your turn, get creative and have fun with it. Your husband will be so blessed by your personal touches this week!

“The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”

Gluten Free/Organic Meal Plans for Large Families:: Week 3

Each Tuesday I will be sharing our family meal plan for the upcoming week. I have gone so long without a list or even a menu for my family, I don't advise that at all. Coming home after spending 100's of dollars and wondering what's for dinners. Then you figure out what you want to make and you’re missing something, then you’re off the store again.

We try to eat really 100% gluten free, and organic. We eat about 50-60% Raw most of the time, and I am telling you there is a big difference in how you will look and feel.

I wanted to add that for my family of 11 we spend around $400.00 a week on food. During the summer less since we will be eating from our Garden. That comes out to just about $5.30 per day to feed each person in my family. I know families that spend that at Starbucks each morning. It can be done! You can get great coupons and shop the deals, and load up when you find a great sale.

I bought 20 coupons for Organic Valley last week which cuts my Organic milk price in half.

I also was able to find coupons for $1.00 off of Gluten free bread. You just have to look and pay attention and you can save big!

Be My Valentine ~ Week 1 – Take the Initiative

I am taking part of a Marriage Challenge for the next 4 weeks and I hope that I can keep it up for the next 40 years! This Challenge would have been very hard for me less than a few months ago, well maybe even a few weeks ago. I have a hard time not being the one that is always correct, and my husband has to live around that. I told myself a few months ago that this has to stop why would he want to be around such a controlling wife.  I don't tell him what to do but I do like to get my way, I know this is not the correct way to live in a marriage.

“The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”
~Proverbs 14:1

I am married to the nicest man any women could ask for. He gives everything to be with us, when he's home he does everything to help us. He cooks, cleans, schools he'll do about anything so I can have a break and time to myself.

Way have I allowed the devil to take over my thoughts for so long! You know until I humbled myself before God for all my actions nothing changed. I knew I had to take a stand against all the evil thoughts that Satan had put in my heart and in my mind. He's good at that! He would love nothing more than for us women to do the opposite of what we are told by our father in heaven!

Well I said that's it no more not me!! Which I have to say is much harder than it sounds; I have never been good at biting my tongue.

It's hard to say were sorry even if we know that the fight was not our fault, and even harder for some us to allow our husband to take control of the family. We live in a world that tells us all the time that a woman can be just like a man and do it even better. No wonder we have so many marriages falling apart. We turn to people when what we should have been doing is turning to our Bibles and God.

I have noticed a lot of changes since I allowed God to control my life. My Marriage is better for it and my children see it. I am happy really happy!!! Oh, how I wished I would have done this years ago!!

We will still have fights, but my goal is to not even have them!! My husband is my lover, my best friend, and my partner in life. He was given to me from God!! I know some women who wish they could have what I do. As I have been told 1oo times before, "your Husband is a keeper, hold on to him" guess what I plan to do just that!

This is what Courtney said, and she worded it perfectly so I pasted it below. I know that this will be hard for some of you but listen to her words.

And so we come to week one’s “Be My Valentine” Marriage Challenge. Some of you jumped on board quickly and are ready to do this but others…

Others may have decided this was not for you. Maybe your marriage is struggling, your husband is being annoying, you are in the midst of a fight or you’ve grown distant from your husband. Maybe it’s REALLY hard to even think of one nice thing to say.
These challenges really are challenges for you.
Would you consider just trying a little bit, to do a little something this week just to see what God will do through your willingness to go first and bless your husband? I am praying as you take the initiative, that God will strengthen you and bless your marriage through you!

Week 1 Challenge - Take the Initiative!Look for ways to praise your husband verbally.

Praise him in front of the kids, friends, family, co-workers, on facebook, tweet it – get praise out anyway you can! Try to mention something noteworthy he has done – in his role as provider, father, husband, lover, or friend. If the thought of trying to come up with one terrifies you, then pray right now that God will give you new eyes to see your husband as God does. Then open your mouth and say something kind and uplifting to your husband today and tomorrow and the next day until Valentine’s Day arrives!

What do you think will you give it a try? I am telling you it just makes peace in your soul, you will sleep better and be much happier. Always turn to God he hears you, he loves you and he never leaves you!

Here are some ways to tell your husband he is special-

1.      Text him sweet messages letting him know how loved he is and how much you appreciate him.

2.      Leave Love notes in his Car or in his lunch bag

3.      Make him coffee in the morning and start his car making sure you tell him how grateful you are that he works hard for his family.

4.      Email him to tell him you love him and how grateful you are for him

5.      Praise him in front of your children

6.      Be by the door when he comes home to plant a big kiss on him!

7.      When out and about tell him how much you are grateful for him (maybe even in the checkout line at the store).

Remember try to do this every day until Valentine’s Day. I know this might be hard for some of you but just take baby steps. Do the best you can, something is always better than nothing.

I encourage you this week and ask you to please join me over at

Dear Friends,

Tuesday, January 22nd marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States. Since that tragic day in 1973, over 50 million children have lost their lives to abortion.

Outside my window...
it is very very cold!!! We hit 1 degree today and I just stayed cold all day!  I cooked and baked all day just to warm up our house.

what college life will be like at 35 with 8 children! Wondering what life will be like with my husband home much much more!

I am thankful...
for all the help my church family is giving us at this time, we have so many plans for the future. It's nice to have Elders and a great Pastor to help us we are so blessed.

I am looking forward...
to bed tonight along with hot chocolate, a good movie and my husband to cuddle with.

I am learning...
about how to make money and juggle my family this week.

I am hearing...
my husband talk to my kids and laugh with them! It is so relaxed in our home it's like pounds of pressure has been lifted from our home.

Around the house...
burp clothes and cloth wipes that we are making, and clothes everywhere for selling

I am praying...
to hear God's voice in all of these big family changes.

One of my favorite things...

My Daybook Week 3:: January 14, 2013

 Outside my window...
I see less snow and less sunshine, this makes the days very cold.  I also see all the Christmas trees laying by the driveways, Christmas is really over it went by so fast!  I have said before I'm not a winter person, but I would rather my yard be full of clean snow than mud.
I am thinking...
about Valentines day, and all the ides running through my mind makes me tired.
I am thankful...
that my little guy is doing much better today with his cold. He still sounds built up with flem but much better.
In my kitchen...
I have lots and lots of vegetables and fruit, I am going to be taking out 7 things in my diet to see what is making my tummy so up set. I never knew how easy the Paleo diet was to follow. Here's my list of the things I will be removing for the next 30 days.
  1. Sugar
  2. Corn
  3. Soy
  4. Red Meat
  5. Wheat
  6. Eggs
  7. Peanuts
I am trying to eat more of a whole foods diet to better my health, husband and children. I have learned so much about this in my Paleo book and I have learned so much from the Reforming Food & Family DVD Series. It will be new to my family but the results I think will be great.
I am wearing...
My husbands heavy and very warm sweatpants, white socks, a fleece sweatshirt, with a white t-shirt. I do most of my blogging, like 90% of it in the middle of the night, so lots of cozy clothes.
I am creating...
a list of things I need at the craft store today, my list is always way to long. I love to craft and make home made things so the craft/fabric store is a place where I can get into a lot of trouble.
I am going...
a little crazy with all the neck pain I have been having, and lower back pain. I think it may be from the way I am sleeping at night.
I am reading...
my favorite Blogs and my Bible, I needed to be in the word this week more than I was in the past week. I am hoping my husband will read the books he will be reading for school to me.  The best is when I can lay my head on his lap and be next to him. I would  also love to learn with him, Theology is just going to be fun!
I am hoping...
our gun laws don't change to much, sorry I like to have the right to bare arm's!! No one is going to protect my family but my husband and I!! We are the first ones to see that bad man enter our home not the cops. If the teachers and workers in schools, banks, and movie theaters were armed  we would see less violence. Some say that guns are for war only and that the American public just can't handle them! This is what I think when I hear about a man going into a school with a gun looking to kill children, he is going to war on everyone in that school. He went to a school looking for a fight and not with a snowball, or with even a knife, but a GUN!!  Not one person in that school, bank or movie theater could defend them selves! Please pray that our freedom is not taken from us!!!
I am looking forward...
to a new week of school and projects! I know call me weird but I like teaching my children and seeing them learn. I could do with out Math and Grammar.
I am learning...
how to sew, not a easy task for me with such a busy house, but very fun! I wish I would have learned a long time ago before I had children. I want to try and make this cute heart garland I could just buy these but making them will be more fun.
I am hearing...
my husband wash dishes for me so I can finish my blog post. In my family who ever cooks for the family does not clean the kitchen, I would much rather cook any day. If you want eggs at 2am than of course you have to clean up yourself, that would only be fair.
Around the house...
birthday decorations everywhere, we have had 2 birthdays this week and a third today.  We have had a Marvel birthday, and now a Cinderella birthday which is fun but also tiring.
I am praying...
for my self today as I start to understand what we are doing in this family is real. I support my husband but I am scared of these big changes we are about to make. My husband starts school next week and stops working next week. So, what ever I can make for the family is what we will have, I have never had to do this and it just scares me. We have a small family business that will help a lot and my work will be done at home but still a new and big step for us. Could you please pray for us we could really use prayers of strength, and prayers of stillness to hear the Lords voice and the direction he has for us.
One of my favorite things...
Spending time with my Pastor and his family. I feel so blessed and complete in my life settled and calm after years of searching. We love our town, church family, and the friends we have made over the last 4 years. I will be praying that where ever we go after Seminary it does not take us to far from where we are now.
Another favorite thing...
spending quite time in church, I love spending time alone in church! I have not been able to do this in a long time and I miss it.
Plans for the rest of the week...
  • Monday sewing trip with a friend
  • Tuesday spending the afternoon with my Pastor and his family
  • Wednesday a college visit and a birthday party
  • Thursday work on sewing projects and work on storage unit a little
  • Friday finish up school work and catch up on school work from the week
  • Saturday trip to the grochery
  • Sunday Sabbath
A little look at our day...
