Celebrating the "O Antiphons

From December 17 - December 23 we will be celebrating the O Antiphons.

I had no idea what the "O" Antiphons even were till I joined the Catholic Church. I have done some reading now and found it so intresting. Looking at some of my favorite blogs like Jessica's blog I found some great ways to celebrate these days leading up to Christmas.

First-
Each Antiphon begins with "O" and addresses Jesus with a unique title which comes from the prophecies of Isaias and Micheas (Micah), and whose initials, when read backwards, form an acrostic for the Latin "Ero Cras" which means "Tomorrow I come." Those titles for Christ are:

Sapientia
Adonai
Radix Jesse
Clavis David
Oriens
Rex Gentium
Emmanuel

You can find so  much informatiom on the "OAntiphons on the This website.

I also found out over at Jessica's blog that there is a old monastic custom of providing special treats on these days. Each treat will represent a O Antiphon and remind us how close we are to Christmas. Here is what we will be doing this year in our home.
