The Lord is Testing us Again

My husband got the news that he would be off of work in February. We were a little shocked when we got the news, 2 months is a long time. They are saying March is a sure thing, at least we hope. I can see God's hand in all of this, yet I am not sure what to make of all this. Does that make any sense? January was great with my husband home, we were able to study Gods word as a couple more then ever, my husband helped with all the house work, all the schooling, and we spent great alone time together watching movies and reading books. I could get used to this for sure no problem. I am a wife that could spend every waking hour with my husband. We have our days like any couple, but we really complete each other. Most of his jobs have been long hrs or many days away from home. When he served in the Army it was months without him, when he's working it is 12-14 hr days. I am happy to be with him all day every day.

What hurts even in my happiness is to know that the man was made to work. It makes me sad to see my husband home knowing he should be working. I worry about how he feels and I try to comfort him and love  him deeply at this time. I want him to know that I love him know matter what. I want him to know he is needed, that he is the leader of this home, and the King of our Castle.  He said he's okay with all of it, and is going to take this time to grow in his faith.  I have to say I did not handle this the same way he did. I felt last night I was more of a drip to him than anything. I went to bed early and just asked the Lord to help us get through another month. I woke up feeling better this morning, had my Prune Juice and spent time in the word. I started to think, something I do a lot of.  Here we have 7 children and 1 hungry German shepherd and you know we have always been cared for. Our Father knows what we need, we just need to spend time with him, and listen to his word. He is going to test our hearts because he loves us. We are looking at this as a gift from God, a gift that we will see someday look back on and say “okay now we see why you did that.”

In the last 4 yrs my husband and I have seen the Lord work in our life over, and over again. We have been tested many times in different areas of our life, each one was horrible but we saw the Glory of God in the end. I am happy to report we are still holding strong by the Grace of God. Our home is paid off, are debt is down to almost nothing, we are healthy, and we walk with the maker of the Universe.

I am remembering these verses from Deuteronomy 8:1-14 all about the Dangers of Money.  Deuteronomy 8 is about not forgetting the Lord.

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers. Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years; to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. Know that in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and revering him.  For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land- a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valley and hills: a land with wheat and barley, vines and figs trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey: a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing; a land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills. When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of  Egypt, out of the land of slavery. ~ Deuteronomy 8:1-14

Are income did multiply, and we found ourselves again not being as humble as we should. We must praise the Lord in all we do, even when things look good. We all get wrapped up in our daily lives, we must remember to put God first not last.

Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walks in his ways.  Psalm 128:1

Even when times are tough we must keep going and press on. Fear the LORD and keep his ways.

My Soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.   Psalm 130:6

It is hard, so hard to wait for a answer, I have a hard time waiting. Reading this Verse is a good reminder of how we must wait for the Lord.  Sometimes us mom's have to much time on our hands and we worry way to much. This is something I am working on in  my life. I want to say thank you to my husband for everything he does, he is a wonderful man of God. I thank the LORD for you each and every day. May the Lord bless all my readers and friends as you face the crosses in your lives.

                                                          Blessings,
Pamela

You are a wise woman Pamela, and you inspire me :o) My husband has also been out of work for a period of time and yes, it has taken its toll and we have been tested in many ways, however, we work every day to stand firm in God's Word and His promises. I absolutely love having my husband at home, more than anything. He completes our family in every way. He finds ways to work and create an income and has gone back to school full time to make himself more desirable in the work force, but even that decision is one that he struggles with. Each day is a step of faith for us and God has been good to us. He truly has provided us all of our needs. We lack nothing. Thank you for this post, it reminds me that we walk through this world hand in hand, sharing our struggles as sisters in Christ. May we be able to encourage each other with each step and to stand firm....together!

So, glad to hear from you. I am glad my post could help you a little. I am not a very good writer. I am really bad at English, we laugh because I am relearning all the English I failed to learn during school. I was good in school I just never liked Grammar much.

My husband is such a smart man. It is so sad to see him going through this. He is always happy and a joy to be around. He was the kid in School that never had to study to get A's and B's.

I pray your husband can find work soon.

I will be keeping you in my prayers, as will my family. It is a very long story, which I am too tired to write at this time, but every Feb. 12th we celebrate-yes celebrate- the remembrance of the day my husband was laid off, 1 month after our 4th baby was born and 1 month after we had just invested our life savings into our first home and 1 month after we had just bought a new (used) car to fit our family in and in the middle of a legal struggle to that was already draining us of all our financial resources.

It was an amazing time of seeing God work in our lives and bless us and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Pamela, my husband has been on and off with work recently due to various reasons, but God remains in control.

A scripture psssage that has encouraged me is; Psalm 50:10.

Thank you for linking up to Domestically Divine. I always look forward to hearing from you.

God bless you,

Jasmine
